  • Media-tumbling

After media-tumbling, SLS 3D Printed parts will have smoothened print slice traces, less sharp edges, and will be left with an eggshell finish.

  • Dyeing and colouring

    • Dyeing: Blue, red, black and green colours are available
    • Spray paint colouring: Any colour is available (just ask our team about this custom finishing option!)
  • Food grade finishing

This finishing option ensures compliance with ISO 9001, meaning these SLS 3D Printed parts can come into contact with food products.

SELECTIVE LASER SINTERING SPECIFICATIONS

To help you decide whether this is the right manufacturing process for your desired part, our SLS 3D Printing specifications are as follows:

WHAT IS SELECTIVE LASER SINTERING?

SLS (Selective Laser Sintering) is the favourite 3D Printing technique for industrial applications. SLS works by using a high-powered laser to fuse together polymer powder particles. Through SLS 3D Printing techniques, the unused powder provides structural support for the SLS part being created during the printing process and so removes any need for support structures to be created around the part.

FAQ

  • What is selective laser sintering (SLS)?

Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) is an additive manufacturing technology that uses a high-powered laser to selectively fuse powdered materials, typically polymers or metals, to create three-dimensional objects layer by layer.

  • How does selective laser sintering work?

In selective laser sintering, a thin layer of powdered material is evenly spread over a build platform. A laser scans the cross-section of the object to be printed, selectively melting and fusing the powdered particles based on the digital design data. The build platform then lowers, and a new layer of powder is spread, repeating the process until the object is fully formed.

  • What are SLS parts?

SLS parts refer to the objects or components created using selective laser sintering technology. These parts are built layer by layer from powdered materials, resulting in complex geometries and high structural integrity.

  • What materials can be used in selective laser sintering?

Selective laser sintering is compatible with a wide range of materials, including various polymers (such as nylon, polypropylene, and TPU) as well as metals (such as aluminum, stainless steel, and titanium). The specific material used depends on the desired properties and applications of the SLS parts.

  • What are the advantages of selective laser sintering?

Some key advantages of selective laser sintering include:

    • Capability to produce complex geometries and intricate designs
    • High structural integrity and durability of SLS parts
    • Wide material compatibility for various applications
    • No need for support structures during the printing process
    • Ability to produce functional prototypes and end-use parts
  • What are the typical applications of SLS parts?

SLS parts find applications in various industries, including automotive, aerospace, consumer goods, healthcare, and engineering. They are used for prototyping, manufacturing end-use parts, tooling, jigs, fixtures, and more.
