What are extruded profiles?

Extruded profiles are long, continuous shapes produced through the metal extrusion process, where heated metal—typically aluminium, steel, magnesium, or copper—is forced through a custom-fabricated die to create complex cross-sectional designs. These profiles can vary widely in complexity, ranging from simple shapes like rods and tubes to intricate designs with multiple cavities and walls, offering exceptional uniformity and strength across their entire length. They can be cut down to desired lengths or further processed via CNC machining and finishing processes.

Extruded profiles are perfect for frames, structural components, brackets, engine components, heat sinks, support structures, and numerous other applications across various industries.

Our extruded profiles are engineered to meet the highest standards, making them the ideal solution for any project requiring precision, durability, and efficiency. Elevate your designs and streamline your manufacturing with our high-quality extruded profiles, tailored to fit your exact specifications.

FAQ extrusion

  • What is metal extrusion?

Metal profile extrusion is the process of forcing a length of metal through a die with a predetermined cross-sectional profile. The metal comes out through the die in the crossectional shape of the profile.

  • How does metal extrusion work?

A premanufactured die with a custom profile is loaded into an extrusion press at one end. The raw material, a metal cylindrical billet, is also loaded into the press at the other end. A ram pushes the metal through the die using extreme pressures of over 15,000 tonnes of force. The metal profile “flows” out of the die in the shape of the crossectional profile.

  • What are the applications of extruded metal profiles?

Extruded metal profiles are used in countless applications across various industries. These include structural beams, frames, heatsinks, chassis parts, engine components, wing structures, machinery components, mounting systems, and numerous other applications.

  • What are the advantages of metal extrusion?

Metal profile extrusion offers a cost-effective, fast, accurate, and precise method of producing large quantities of metal profiles with intricate designs. This process is also versatile, capable of producing an infinite number of custom crossectional shapes using custom dies. In addition, metal extrusion produces strong, lightweight parts.

  • What materials can be used in metal profile extrusion?

Metal profile extrusion is predominantly applied to aluminium due to the material’s malleability, ductility, and strength. Metal extrusion is also compatible with copper, steel, and titanium.
