Tyba integrates elegant, non-digital user experiences into modern living environments through its flagship product, Turn. This award-winning room control device is designed to add intuitive control to the key elements of any space, simplifying user interactions while addressing cost and data privacy concerns that often hinder smart home technology adoption.
Despite its simple appearance, Turn consists of over 35 meticulously designed components, each requiring precise manufacturing processes to ensure quality and functionality. With customers already waiting to get the product in hand, time was critical for the team at Tyba to get actionable quotes fast and tooling underway.
Unfortunately for Oz Andrews, Chief Design Engineer at Tyba, sourcing quotes for injection moulding proved a challenge.
“The inability of some of the injection moulding suppliers to quote in any reasonable time frame was staggering. The range of prices from one supplier to the next meant I couldn’t understand the true cost to manufacture my parts or if I was being ripped off, explained Oz.
Thanks to Gemoiq, Oz was able to get a quick, fair and actionable quote that would allow him to proceed rapidly with production: "Geomiq gave us an injection moulding quote in 24 hours—it was more competitive than anyone else and we were able to proceed with it the next day."
In addition to making the quoting process simpler and faster, our intelligent platform has helped Tyba halve the cost of their P20 Steel tooling, reduce their CapEx and prove viability before going to mass production.
“It was a streamlined and stress-free process, once we’d signed off the samples we were able to get our first 1,000 units underway, which was really exciting”, said Oz.
"I sent an email to the top ten injection moulding suppliers on Google and compared their quotes based on speed, quality, and pricing. The next cheapest quote after Geomiq was twice the cost and it took them three weeks to get it to me." — Oz Andrews, Chief Design Engineer at Tyba
